Thought Spark 360

The phrase "spark of thought" beautifully captures the essence of how ideas and insights can suddenly emerge, often triggered by a specific moment or event. It's a metaphorical expression suggesting that just as a spark can ignite a fire, a single thought can be the starting point for a larger process of creativity, innovation, or problem-solving. This concept emphasizes the potential power and significance of initial thoughts in leading to the realization of goals or the creation of something new and valuable. It serves as a reminder of the importance of being open to moments of inspiration, as these can be the catalysts for success and achievement.

A professor had three ThoughtSparks that he shared with me while he was taking his usual morning walk. When the mindset changes, what we see, interpret and make sense of the world of new possibilities change radically.

The ideas were focused on making a difference to people and the planet. Profit could be a byproduct.

That reminded me of the starfish tale. The Starfish Story tells of a child walking along a beach after a terrible storm which washed up thousands of starfish. The child is throwing starfish back into the water, when someone admonishes the child that they cannot save them all, cannot really make a difference.

Also starfish represents another metphor. According to Brafman and Beckstrom, the starfish is the shape of things to come. A creature with no central nervous system, the humble echinoderm represents the fluid, adaptive organization of the future. Cut it in two and it doesn't die: it becomes two starfish, each of them capable of independent life.
